Transportasi Jakarta, bagaimana nasibnya?

Aku berlari kecil menyusuri jembatan busway…suara gemuruh yang cukup dahsyat memberi tanda bahwa air hujan akan tumpah dari langit…’aku harus sampai ke kost an sebelum hujan, atau aku akan mau tidak mau berbesar hati menghabiskan minimal 3 jam di jalanan yang macet total’, tegasku dalam hati. Tampak orang-orang juga sangat terburu-buru, lalu lintas mulai padat merayap memenuhi ruas-ruas jalan. Pemandangan keseharian Jakarta terutama di jam-jam puncak.

Sustainable Streets??

Paradigms such as ‘active living’ and ‘sustainable streets’ become concerns of planners, particularly in developed countries. These concerns are triggered by the awareness of the importance of quality of life for people living in urban areas. The sustainable streets means that there is an integration of all modes of transportation in the street including bikes and pedestrians for walking. In Sydney, sustainable streets has been started to be a focus of the planning system since transportation system in Sydney has been left behind compared to that in other cities in Australia.

Is this fact taboo so that should be avoided or should be planned?

I was impressed with the social planning in New South Wales, Australia that’s trying to include sex premises as one of land uses needed to be considered in the planning regulation. I know this is something unusual in some other countries particularly developing countries.

Urban Plan,,,how useful is it??

Last week when there was a bible study in my uni, a friend asked me what course that I am taking. “Planning” I said simply. “Is that master or undergrad?” she then continued asking. “Master” again I replied shortly. “I’ve never heard about it” she said innocently without paying attention to what I felt. “Well, yea, it’s not common, particularly for Asian students” I tried to explain. She then nodded and we discussed about the bible study topic.

In the last semester, I took a subject named Transport, Land Use, and Environment. One of the lectures which was held on the week 3 discussed about “transportation and spatial organization”.

A Waste Disposal or A Recreational Area??

One of my reports last semester was investigating relationship between a waste disposal and people. This report was an assignment of Sustainability and Habitability course. Therefore, by doing small research about a place and people using that place, we were hoped could generate recommendation in relation to sustainability and habitability issues.
